Crash, an Oscar winning movie released in 2004, deals with various racial discriminations between different groups of people in Los Angeles. USA is a racially diverse country comprised with Asian, African American, Jewish, Hispanics, Caucasian, etc. Therefore, racial discrimination has always been a serious issue in USA. There were riots, war, hate crimes, and many other incidents solely caused by hatred toward the other race. The movie, Crash, shows numerous disputes between people with different race due to ignorance, stereotype, excessive pride, and hate. By watching this movie, you can experience, indirectly, the racism that may affect you.The medium that is used to send this movie’s message to the world is movie. Movie works perfectly, because racial discrimination can be a dramatic issue that may not be explained with words. Some emotions are best described with the tension created by actors’ action or background music, which can be both shown in the movie. If this was written in magazine article or a book, it will not have been able to send the same emotion that the producers of this movie tried to show the world.
